About Project

Yoga in the Dark is a project that fosters my passion for night and low light photography and painting with light. I use an arsenal of unusual gadgets and utilize unique technique of shooting and post processing that I developed as part of my research in the realm of low light photography.

My ambition is to move beyond conventional depiction of static postures. I strive to capture the moment, the movement, the effort, the balance, the energy flow, the essence and the spirit of Yoga.

This project is my answer to boring lifeless photographs that I seemed to be seeing around. It started as a black light project and then developed into something that I intend to take quite far. I was looking for the photographs of the postures for my black light project and I wasn’t seeing anything exciting. Maybe I wasn’t good at looking, but I since decided to create something unique in the realm of yoga photography.

This project is still in its early stages and I am working on the new concepts. Stay tuned – much more to come as this project further evolves.

My background in medicine, knowledge of human anatomy, past performance in competitive sport and exposure to Ashtanga yoga help me a lot during creative process.
